Ms. McCracken has been practicing law in California since 1985, the last 18 in the hospitality industry.  A cum laude graduate of the University of San Francisco School of Law and a graduate of the University of California at Santa Cruz with a degree in Politics, she has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for the last 30 years.

Ms. McCracken most recently served as the interim general counsel for the new ownership of a large complex Hawaiian Island holdings.  Prior to that, McCracken was the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Stanford Hotels Corporation for over 5 years.  She negotiated the sale of four of its hotels and the acquisition of one, more significant hotel, as Stanford attempted to transition its portfolio to four-star, larger, full service hotels.   She also oversaw the legal aspects of the day to day operations of Stanford’s portfolio of hotels, as well as the assets of its other, affiliated properties and investments.  She negotiated leases and lease workouts relative to its office and warehouse buildings.  McCracken worked extensively with Stanford’s human resources department and managed multiple claims ranging from construction disputes and arbitrations, to employment-related claims, to equipment leasing fraud lawsuits and related bankruptcies. 

For approximately 9 years prior to joining Stanford in 2005, Ms. McCracken was the Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group.  She was responsible for all day to day operations for its many hotels and restaurants through its early growth from approximately 18 hotels, to 40, and from being a solely West Coast hotel and restaurant owner/operator, to a national and international company with properties throughout the United States, and in British Columbia, Canada.  McCracken was responsible for a wide range of issues from negotiating all operating contracts, leases, vendor agreements, and central reservations systems and related agreements, etc. to obtaining all necessary trademarks, liquor licenses and approvals.  She oversaw all litigation and handled many of the risk management issues. 

Prior to Kimpton, McCracken worked as General Counsel for a real estate investment firm in Santa Rosa, California negotiating ground leases, joint venture agreements, purchase and sale agreements, billboard leases and other agreements related to the development and investment in real estate. 

From 1985 to 1991 McCracken worked in private practice as a real estate attorney with the firms of Miller, Starr & Regalia, and then through its partial merger, with the firm of Graham & James, where she did extensive work in the areas of subdivisions, including drafting CC&R’s, commercial leasing, purchase and sale of real estate, and real estate financing. 

In 2010, Ms. McCracken joined her husband, Philip Harris, in his hospitality law practice.  She enjoys horseback riding with her husband and daughter, hiking, and travel.
